Sebuah tempat yang ideal untuk tinggal.
Tapi, Lais jauh dari Sidon dan penduduknya tidak bergaul dengan siapapun juga (ayat 7). Ini kelemahan utamanya. Dan kelemahan ini yang menjadi sumber kehancuran Lais. Suku Dan, yang terdiri dari 600 orang bersenjata lengkap, menyerang kota itu; membunuh penduduknya dan membakar kotanya. “Tidak ada yang datang menolong, sebab kota itu jauh dari Sidon dan orang-orang kota itu tidak bergaul dengan siapapun juga” (ayat 28).
Orang Lais merasa cukup dengan diri mereka sendiri–semua kebutuhan tersedia, merasa tidak perlu punya relasi dengan orang lain–mengisolasi diri dari orang lain. Kondisi terisolasi ini adalah celah kelemahan, sebab ketika ada bahaya, tidak ada orang yang bisa atau mau menolong. Aku tidak butuh orang lain, baik keluarga atau teman atau siapapun–sampai saat ini terbukti hidupku tenteram; cukup dengan diriku dan keluarga intiku saja. Betapa berbahaya pemikiran itu, sebab “wai orang yang jatuh, yang tidak mempunyai orang lain untuk mengangkatnya!” (Pkh. 3:10).
“Dan marilah kita saling memperhatikan supaya kita saling mendorong dalam kasih dan dalam pekerjaan baik. Janganlah kita menjauhkan diri dari pertemuan-pertemuan ibadah kita, seperti dibiasakan oleh beberapa orang, tetapi marilah kita saling menasihati, dan semakin giat melakukannya menjelang hari Tuhan yang mendekat.” (Ibr. 10:24-25).

Jangan merasa kuat dan bisa hidup sendiri dan tidak memerlukan orang lain–terutama dalam perkara rohani. Sebab ketika say atidak memiliki komunitas rohani yang saling menopang, maka saya akan mudah untuk diserang dan dikalahkan musuh.
