Markus 12:35-40
Setelah tidak ada lagi yang berani bertanya kepada Yesus untuk menguji/mencoba Dia (Markus 12:34), sekarang ganti Yesus yang bertanya kepada para ulama itu di depan orang banyak (Matius 22:41). Yesus menanyakan “kontradiksi” di dalam Kitab Suci mengenai Siapakah Mesias itu. Ahli-ahli Taurat yang ditanya menjawab (dan jawaban itu benar), bahwa Mesias adalah Anak (keturunan) Daud. Berdasar jawaban itu, Yesus mengutip Mazmur 110:1 yang menyebut pengakuan Daud bahwa Mesias adalah Tuan-nya (kurios: lord, master, owner). Bagaimana mungkin Mesias itu Anak Daud sekaligus Tuan-nya Daud? Ahli-ahli Taurat tidak ada yang bisa menjawab pertanyaan itu. Sedagkan orang banyak mendengarkan dengan gembira (Matius 22:46; ayat 37).
Tentang Siapakah Mesias, para ahli Taurat memiliki jawaban yang benar–bahwa Mesias adalah Anak Daud–tetapi tidak lengkap, karena mereka tidak bisa menjelaskan mengapa Daud menyebut Mesias sebagai “Tuanku”. Satu-satunya penjelasan atas apa yang sepertinya kontradiktif itu adalah: Mesias adalah Tuhan yang menjadi manusia, dilahirkan dari perempuan keturunan Daud bukan karena proses alamiah, tetapi karena pekerjaan Roh Kudus. Dan itu digenapi di dalam kelahiran Yesus melalui Maria karena pekerjaan Roh Kudus.
Sebenarnya hal ini sudah dinubuatkan dalam kitab nabi-nabi, misalnya Yesaya 7:14; tetapi ahli-ahli Taurat tidak memahami atau tidak bisa menerima pernyataan Tuhan itu. Dan ketika nubutan para nabi itu digenapi, mereka tidak bisa/mau menerimanya; mereka tetap berpekang kepada apa yang mereka yakini selama ini. Mereka tetap tidak mau menerima kebenaran bahwa Yesus adalah Mesias yang dijanjikan Tuhan. Apapun bukti-bukti yang sudah dinyatakan selama 3 tahun pelayanan Yesus, dan argumen/penjelasan yang diberikan untuk menjawab semua kontradiksi, mereka tetap tidak mau percaya. Bahaya kekerasan hati, tidak mau menerima kebenaran Tuhan.
Kemudian, Yesus mengajar orang agar waspada kepada ahli-ahli Taurat yang suka berjalan-jala dengan jubah panjang dan menerima penghormatan di pasar, duduk di tempat utama di rumah ibadat, dan di tempat tamu kehormatan di pesta, yang menelan rumah janda-janda, dan berdoa panjang-panjang demi penampilan di depan orang (ayat 38-40). Ulama yang hidupnya seperti itu akan menerima penghakiman/hukuman yang lebih besar. Bahaya gila hormat/pengakuan–mencari pujian dan kekaguman orang lain dengan cara memamerkan, menonjolkan, menunjukkan eksistensi/posisi yang isimewa. Bahaya kemunafikan dan eksploitasi yaitu menggunakan posisi keagamaan untuk mengeksploitasi orang lain secara finansial. Secara khusus, Yesus menyoroti secara khusus eksploitasi para ulama ini kepada janda-janda yang merupakan kelompok paling membutuhkan pelayanan, tetapi yang kondisinya serba terbatas–para ulama itu sampai hati mencari keuntungan finansial dari orang-orang yang paling membutuhkan pelayanan mereka.
Para ahli Taurat menempati status sosial yang tinggi, mereka terpelajar, mereka dihormati, mereka diperlakukan secara istimewa, mereka memiliki otoritas/kuasa atas umat, dan mereka tidak kekurangan secara finansial. Di sisi lain, para janda adalah kelompok orang yang secara sosial dan ekonomi lemah, mereka tidak memiliki suami yang melindungi, tidak memiliki sumber keuangan, dan secara sosial mereka tidak dihormati. Betapa ironisnya, ketika para ahli Taurat itu justru mengeksploitasi para janda! Mereka yang kuat bukannya melayani dan menopang, namun justru menindas dan memeras kelompok yang paling lemah dalam masyarakat.
Penerapan:
(1) Berdoa untuk hati yang tidak gila hormat dan mencari puji-pujian manusia. Minta kerendahan hati, yang tidak menuntut perlakukan khusus, yang tidak merasa terganggu ketika diperlakukan biasa-biasa saja atau bahkan diabaikan.
(2) Berdoa agar dihindarkan dari hati yang menindas dan eksploitatif kepada kelompok yang lebih lemah (sosial, ekonomi, posisi) dari saya; namun meminta hati yang berbelas kasihan dan penuh kemurahan kepada mereka sehingga bisa melayani mereka dengan rela.
